Two Advanced Techniques in One Certification

This program teaches both inkless restorative techniques and pigment-based camouflage, allowing you to evaluate each client's skin and determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

1. Scar Camouflage

Learn techniques for improving the visual appearance of suitable scars through customized pigment blending and controlled implantation.

Training focuses on scar assessment, skin tone analysis, pigment selection, undertone correction, needle choice, depth control, and creating natural-looking camouflage results.

2. Inkless & Pigmented Stretch Mark Treatment

Learn two different approaches to treating suitable stretch marks.

Inkless Treatment:
Uses controlled skin needling techniques with specialized serums to support the skin's natural renewal process and improve the appearance and texture of stretch marks.

Pigmented Camouflage:
Uses carefully customized skin-tone pigments to visually blend suitable stretch marks with the surrounding skin.

Students learn how to determine when inkless treatment, pigmentation, or a staged combination approach may be appropriate.

Comprehensive Curriculum

Our curriculum goes beyond basic camouflage techniques. Students develop a deeper understanding of scar tissue, skin behavior, pigment science, treatment planning, client safety, and healed results.

Scar & Skin Fundamentals

  • Understanding scar anatomy and the skin healing process
  • How scar tissue differs from healthy skin
  • Identifying different types of scars
  • Mature vs. immature scar tissue
  • Understanding stretch marks and tissue changes
  • Hypopigmentation and uneven skin coloration
  • Evaluating treatment candidacy
  • Recognizing when a client should not be treated

Scar Camouflage Techniques

  • Scar assessment and treatment planning
  • Pigmented scar camouflage
  • Inkless scar revision techniques
  • Stretch mark camouflage
  • Scar relaxation techniques
  • Texture-focused treatment approaches
  • Working with surgical scars
  • Working with mature and challenging scar tissue
  • Light vs. darker scar considerations
  • Correcting uneven-looking skin tone
  • Real-case troubleshooting and correction strategies

Color Theory & Pigment Science

Color matching is one of the most important skills in successful camouflage work.

Students learn:

  • Color theory simplified for camouflage procedures
  • Understanding warm, cool, and neutral undertones
  • Working across Fitzpatrick skin types
  • Custom pigment mixing
  • Flesh-tone pigment selection
  • Undertone correction
  • Adjusting pigment formulas for individual clients
  • Understanding how implanted color may change during healing

The goal is not simply to select a pigment from a bottle, but to understand how to create a customized formula for the individual client's skin.

Machine, Needle & Depth Control

Scar tissue behaves differently from normal skin, making proper equipment selection and technique especially important.

Training includes:

  • PMU machine fundamentals
  • Needle configurations
  • Choosing needles for scar tissue and delicate skin
  • Machine settings
  • Needle depth
  • Hand speed and pressure
  • Controlled pigment implantation
  • Avoiding unnecessary skin trauma
  • Recognizing tissue response during treatment

Consultation, Safety & Client Management

Students learn how to conduct professional consultations and establish realistic treatment expectations.

Topics include:

  • Client consultation protocols
  • Medical history and contraindications
  • Infection prevention and sanitation
  • Bloodborne pathogen safety
  • Skin preparation
  • Informed consent
  • Setting realistic expectations
  • Discussing multiple-session treatment plans
  • Healing expectations
  • Aftercare instructions
  • Client photography and documentation
  • Trauma-informed and compassionate client communication

Live Model Training

Hands-on experience is an essential part of learning restorative tattoo techniques.

Students observe instructor demonstrations and perform procedures on live models under instructor supervision.

During model work, students receive guidance on:

  • Scar assessment
  • Treatment selection
  • Pigment formulation
  • Needle selection
  • Machine settings
  • Technique and hand movement
  • Skin response
  • Treatment documentation
  • Aftercare

Our focus is on helping students understand not only how to perform a technique, but why a particular technique is selected for each client.

Learn in a Real Paramedical Tattoo Environment

This is not a theory-only course.

Students train in a working academy environment where restorative and cosmetic tattoo techniques are taught with an emphasis on real-world application.

We focus heavily on:

Live Model Experience • Scar Assessment • Pigment Science • Skin Safety • Healed Results • Realistic Expectations • Client Management

Students learn how to approach each case individually rather than following a one-method-fits-all protocol.

Open-Door Practice Policy

Your education does not end when your two-day class is over.

Graduates are welcome to bring their own models back to the academy and practice under the supervision of our trainers at no additional charge, subject to academy scheduling and availability.

This gives students an opportunity to continue building confidence and experience while receiving professional guidance.

Business & Career Development

Technical skills are only part of building a successful camouflage practice.

Training also covers:

  • Adding scar and stretch mark services to an existing PMU or tattoo business
  • Treatment pricing
  • Client consent forms
  • Before-and-after photography
  • Building a professional portfolio
  • Marketing restorative services ethically
  • Communicating realistic results
  • Developing professional relationships and referral networks
  • Client retention and follow-up
  • Ongoing mentorship and post-training support
